FLIGHT CENTRE

Welcome to Thursday, New West.

We’re counting down the days to təməsew̓txʷ’s opening event on April 29, and it’s exciting to see the building come together. While the aquatic centre still needs a bit more time, it’s awesome to see the facility is a step closer to reality—particularly after the City shared some pictures online of the work done so far. You can link to them in today’s lead story. 👇️

With təməsew̓txʷ set to have the first portion of its phased opening on Monday April 29, there’s a ton of work to be done ahead of the big day. The City has shared some photos of the space, while Mayor Patrick Johnstone shared a video through his Instagram account.

“So excited about this place nearing opening (two more weeks!). It’s so big, it had to be filmed in landscape!” The mayor’s video walkabout featured the outside space, showing trees, plants, artwork, and seating.

Additionally, the City has come out with the following important dates related to təməsew̓txʷ:

  • Community centre opening: Monday April 29 from 8:30 to 11am

  • Public art unveiling: Wednesday May 8 from noon to 2pm

  • Aquatic centre opening: Tuesday May 14 at 4pm

  • Grand opening celebration: Saturday June 1 from 11am to 4pm
