The past few months have been peppered with political announcements. We know that there will be a new mayor, with Jonathan Cote announcing in January he would not be running again. Current city councillor Mary Trentadue also announced her decision to put the brakes on a council commitment, so she could spend more time with her family.

So, the New West Anchor figured it’d be easier to put together a list of the people running in the upcoming local elections, happening October 15th.

New Westminster will have the opportunity to select one mayor, six council members and seven school board members.

If you are running for any of these positions and your name is not listed, be sure to reach out to [email protected] so we can include your information in this list.

The two main parties are the New West Progressives and Community First New West. While Danielle Connelly has announced she is running for school board under the New West Progressives banner, the slate says it plans to announce more candidates at a later date.
